Give your wedding a special touch

For the traditional church/registry office wedding, the smooth functioning of the event requires careful attention to the transport arrangements. The traditional wedding necessitates at least two motorcars in attendance. One is for the bride's mother and the bridesmaids and the principal wedding car is for the bride and her father for the journey to the church.

After the ceremony, the bridesmaids (and pageboys) return to their owners (!), the bride and groom leave the church/registry office in the bridal car and the two sets of parents share the second car.

In a number of weddings the presence of grandparents have to be considered. The wedding of a grandchild is a major landmark in anyone's life and is an opportunity for a proud grandparent to experience the feelings of pride on this special day. In these circumstances, it is appropriate to provide a suitable car for grandparents or other close relatives of the bride and/or groom who will be attending the occasion.

While it is obviously possible for modern wedding cars to make two or perhaps even three journeys to the church, and we are happy to do so, the fact is that this does resemble, somewhat, a taxi service and your guests will note this. It is a dictum of the founder of the company that built our cars, Frederick Henry Royce, that "Whatever is rightly done, is noble". Buckland Carriage Company take the same approach. To assist you in planning your wedding, Buckland Carriage Company offer a generous discount on second and subsequent motorcars attending the same wedding. The choice of the combination of our cars to attend your wedding requires careful thought as to purpose, colour and effect. We have considerable experience of combinations of our cars at weddings and our special packages detailed elsewhere on this web site are based on that experience.

While there has grown up a tradition of having a white wedding car, the fact remains that Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd. did not produce a white car until the early 1980s. If you are to choose a Rolls-Royce motor car built before that date, then a white one would simply not be "proper". Furthermore, in the photographs, a white wedding dress does not show up very well against a white motorcar whereas against the darker colours of many of the cars of the Buckland Carriage Company collection, your dress will stand out and you will be the centre of attraction with the car as a necessary adjunct.
